About the Club
The Mackay Aero Club is more than an aviation club.
It is a welcoming community built around a shared passion for flying, friendship and bringing people together.
Located beside the runway at Mackay Airport, our clubhouse has long been a place where pilots, aviation enthusiasts and locals can connect, relax and enjoy one of Mackay's most unique social venues. Whether you're joining us for Friday night dinner at The Aero Bar, attending a community event, hiring our venue for a special occasion or simply stopping by to watch the aircraft, everyone is welcome.
Proudly run entirely by dedicated volunteers, the club continues to foster a strong sense of community while supporting recreational aviation throughout the Mackay region. Our unique location, versatile function space and close affiliation with the Mackay Tiger Moth Museum make the Mackay Aero Club a destination unlike anywhere else.
Today, we're embracing a new generation of members and visitors by creating opportunities for people to connect through aviation, social events and memorable experiences.
Our Origins
Established in 1978, the Mackay Aero Club has played an important role in the region's aviation community for decades.
As aviation continued to grow across Mackay, so did the need for a place where pilots and aviation enthusiasts could meet, learn from one another, mentor aspiring aviators and build lifelong friendships. The club quickly became a vibrant gathering place where members shared stories, celebrated milestones and enjoyed the camaraderie that comes with a love of flying.
Over the years, the Mackay Aero Club has hosted countless fly-ins, educational workshops, aviation events and social gatherings, helping support and strengthen recreational aviation throughout the region.
While we're proud of our history, we're equally excited about the future. Today, the club continues that tradition by encouraging aviation in the Mackay region while creating new opportunities for people to connect - through flying, community events or simply enjoying great food and good company at the clubhouse.
